Rakhi Sawant has cast in musical called Balti Devi
Rakhi Sawant is heading to the UK and it’s not to be a part of Celebrity Big Brother. The item girl has been cast in a musical called Balti Devi which will be directed by yesteryear’s superstar Shammi Kappor’s son Mickey Kapoor.
The movie looks at a rise of a Southall girl into a famous actress. Rakhi says the role in the film is almost autobiographical for her.
“I am playing this small town girl who makes it in films… and it’s a lot like me. When I started in bollywood I knew no one and nobody. But I made my way and now everyone knows who is Rakhi Sawant!” says the item girl.
The film will be shot in Southall completely and is expected to begin towards the end of the year. The role will require Rakhi to speak in English in parts – something that is on the actress’ mind.
“It’s not difficult for me. It’s just that I normally don’t speak in English. I had received an international offer earlier for which I had learnt English but in the end I didn’t do the film… Par English toh maine seekh lee…thodi bahut,” laughs Sawant.
Currently the actress is putting last minute touches to her dance sequences as she gets ready to fight for the coveted Nach Baliye title. “Just wait and watch. Abhishek aur main cha jayenge competition main. For seasons people will talk about us. Its great that I am doing this right now as it also works as practice for my role in Balti Devi which is a musical,” Rakhi signs off.
