Mumbai, Will she, won’t she? That was the question being asked on whether Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi would accept Salman Khan’s film offer. And she has now said yes.
Sonakshi was offered a role by Salman in a film to be produced by Arbaaz Khan. But Sonakshi, apparently in two minds about a film career, decided not to do it. She had studied fashion designing and that’s what she wanted to pursue as a career.
The girl hadn’t bargained for Salman’s persuasive powers. Apparently he kept asking Sonakshi and her parents - who are very fond of Salman - until they finally relented.
And now Sonakshi has finally said yes to the untitled film which begins shooting in a couple of months.
Said a source very close to the project: “Salman saw Sonakshi at the Fashion Week and told her to lose 10 kgs. Sonakshi decided to lose 30 kgs. And not by starving herself. She maintained a balanced diet, went to the gym regularly and embarked into water sports. Within no time she was stunningly slim.”
That’s when Salman got doubly persuasive and that’s when Sonakshi relented.
The film will be directed for Arbaaz Khan Productions by Anurag’s brother Abhinav Kashyap. This would be Arbaaz’s first production.
Apparently the director went to Arbaaz to sign him an as an actor, but Arbaaz in fact offered to produce it.
Said the proud father Shatrughan Sinha: “Acting was never on the cards for Sonakshi. But I remember as a child she was very cute and I had promised she would do an ad. This is perhaps a fulfilment of that promise. As long as she doesn’t compromise the dignity of our family I’ve no objections to her doing films.”

Recall Chetan Anand’s Raaj Kumar - Rajesh Khanna - Vinod Khana - Hema Malini starrer KUDRAT. The film has tremendous recall value for various reasons, especially the lilting musical score ['Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna, Yeh Hum Nahin Jaante' and other lilting tracks], besides a gripping storyline.
KARMA - CRIME, PASSION, REINCARNATION seems inspired by KUDRAT, but the problem is that the film doesn’t have the power to hold your attention after an interesting start. At best, it works in bits and patches, that’s it!

Vikram [Carlucci Veyant], estranged and separated from his father Ranvir [Vijayendra Ghatge], for the past thirty years, visits him in Ooty with his bride Anna [Alma Saraci] from New York at her insistence, but only for a day or two.

The moment Anna alights from the train that brings them to the small town, she unwittingly becomes the medium of events including visions of a murder that took place in the woods thirty years ago. Even though Anna had never set foot in Ooty, leave alone India before, she seems very familiar with the surroundings and even some people. Anna begins to questions some people who then see her as a threat.
The nightmares occur more frequently and with more specificity. At first, Vik accuses Anna of having some ingrained psychological problems, which hurts Anna deeply, but when strange inexplicable events happen to Vik himself, he apologizes to Anna. Vik resolves to help Anna and when it is discovered that a murder had indeed taken place thirty years ago and together they try to solve the mystery.
The spirit of Linda [Claudia Ciesla], raped and murdered thirty years ago, reincarnated as Anna, leads Anna and Vik to the discovery of the identity of the murderer.
Director M.R. Shahjahan has handled a few sequences well. The sequences involving Alma Saraci specifically raises the bar. The portions make an eerie impact and enhance your interest in the subject. But the culmination to the story — which is so vital in this case — falls like a pack of cards.
The viewer can sense, much before the film has ended, who the culprit is, which is bad news for any thriller. Also, the flashback portions are just not convincing.
Alma Saraci and Carlucci Veyant, the principal stars, enact their parts well, especially Alma. Claudia Ciesla gets no scope. Vijayendra Ghatge is as usual.
On the whole, KARMA - CRIME, PASSION, REINCARNATION appeals in parts, but that’s not enough.

New Delhi, German supermodel-turned-actress Claudia Ciesla, who is considering a Bollywood career, has rubbished rumours that she is dating Indian superstar Salman Khan and insists that Katrina Kaif is his girlfriend.
“Salman and I are just good friends. He is not my boyfriend, as has been reported here. Everyone knows that it’s Katrina Kaif who is his girlfriend and not me. I haven’t even been that long in India to start controversies,” Claudia, 22, told IANS in an interview.
She was in the capital to promote her film “Karma: Crime, Passion, Reincarnation”.
“Everything (rumours) started when I was in Europe. I couldn’t even keep track of it because I was busy over there. But now I hope everything is clear… even Salman had clarified everything in interviews and I am doing the same,” she added.
A leading daily here had reported that the model was the actor’s new muse and reason behind the Salman-Katrina split.
The occasional singer, who has already cut two albums, also conceded that she understands “it all happens when you are in showbiz”. She says rumour mills started working overtime after Salman invited her to his place.
“The only thing was that he invited me to meet his family. Even Katrina was there and they made me feel most welcome,” said Claudia, who was on her fifth trip to India since January 2008.
But the negative reports haven’t stopped her from praising Salman.
“Salman is a wonderful person. He is very gentle and polite. He and his father gave me a lot of advice for my Bollywood career. Even Katrina and I spent a lot of time together and she gave me a lot of advice. She told me about her career and how she learnt Hindi. It was amazing. I respect her a lot for that,” she said.
On being asked if Salman promised her to find work in Bollywood, she said: “Salman didn’t promise me nothing. Why should he?”
Her film “Karma: Crime, Passion, Reincarnation”, directed by M.R. Shahjahan, won prestigious awards at the Spain and Greece film festivals and was also premiered at Cannes.
The film is a dramatic thriller about an Austrian girl (Claudia) who is raped and murdered during her visit to India in the 1970s and how she reincarnates and comes back to the same place after 30 years.
“I am seriously thinking about coming into Bollywood. After the rainy season, I’m planning to stay here for a long time…I’ll rent an apartment in Mumbai and even start taking Hindi lessons,” she said.
She has already worked in Italian and German sitcoms, German-Indian collaboration “Ki Jana Pardes” (Punjabi), and Bengali movie “10:10″.
Claudia says she has three Bollywood offers in hand and that she is coming out with two music albums respectively in German and English.
